Daily Devotional for November 26, 2014

Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of [Yahweh]. He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and also made cast idols for worshiping the Baals...

Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother's name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. He did what was right in the eyes of [Yahweh], just as his father David had done.
2 Chr 28:1-2, 29:1-2

What will your legacy be? People today discuss their legacy with their spouse or their financial planner or even their neighbors. They show concern for how they will be remembered. The authors of the books of Chronicles and Kings refer to the kings of Israel based on how Yahweh will remember them. The king either did those things that Yahweh would view as right or they did not. While no one knows the mind of Yahweh, it is easy to see if someone is living according to the principles of His Word or not.

How will people remember you? Will they remember you as loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, humble and controlled? Or will you be remembered as arrogant, a fornicator, unfaithful, unruly, impatient, lacking self-control, bull-headed, etc.? What kind of talk will you engender for the family and friends you leave behind?

We should not be men-pleasers. However, we should be concerned about the image that we project. That image should reflect the character of Yahshua our Savior. It should show others that we are children of Yahweh our Father. It should encourage a right persona in the eyes of others and, of course, in the eyes of Yahweh our Father.
